Reading Is the Power Behind Learning and Growing
If I could place one gift into the hands of every child, it would not be a toy or even a treasure chest filled with gold.
It would be the love of reading.
Reading is the power behind learning and growing. It is one of life’s greatest gifts because it opens doors no one can ever close. A child who learns to love books discovers that the whole world is waiting to be explored.
One story may carry them into an enchanted forest.
Another may introduce them to Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, or George Washington.
Another may teach them about distant countries, towering mountains, the depths of the oceans, or the wonders of God’s creation.
Every page becomes another step toward understanding.
Reading teaches us to dream beyond what we can see. It strengthens our imagination, expands our vocabulary, and gives us the confidence to ask questions and seek answers.
But perhaps its greatest gift is this…
Reading helps us understand one another.
Stories teach kindness.
They teach courage.
They teach forgiveness.
They remind us that every person has value and every life has a story worth telling.
That is why parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians play such an important role. Every bedtime story, every visit to the library, every quiet moment spent reading together plants seeds that may continue growing for the rest of a child’s life.
My dream has never been simply to write books.
My dream is to help children discover the joy of reading, because a child who loves to read possesses a treasure that can never be taken away.
If Whisperwoods encourages even one child to become a lifelong reader, then every story I have written has been worthwhile.
